The Myth of Free Shipping
FREE Shipping? yes, please - we all like to get something for free, especially shipping. But is it actually free? Well, of course not .. free shipping on every item purchased online is mythical and simply just a marketing gimmick.
Amazon, Target, Walmart and Wayfair can offer free shipping on all items, because they have built the cost of that shipping into the product price. You didn't think it was actually FREE, did you? Nope, not free. Neither is Amazon Prime.
Unfortunately, Etsy introduced a policy for sellers offering "free shipping" to receive priority placement on the Etsy platform, and encouraging sellers to fold the cost of shipping into the product price and call it free. Read CEO Josh Silvermans' letter to Etsy sellers. Quoted directly from the listing page: If you offer free delivery, make sure to include the cost of postage so it doesn't eat into your profits.
We believe in transparency in our business practices and like to operate with a high level of integrity. We do offer our customers the best shipping rates available by utilizing third party shippers and using reclaimed boxes in our packaging. We do not offer free shipping on all of our shop inventory and we certainly don't add the cost of shipping into our listings and then call it free.
We offer a permanent free shipping incentive on orders of CAD$100 or more and we pick up the tab on your shipping so it is really FREE.
